Your Daily Schedule
In the morning you’ll wake up in your private room (or room with your partner if requested) and head to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. You might eat early so you can explore a bit before heading to the nearby rehearsal hall for an intensive staging process. Our location in the Ueno District immerses you in the heart of Tokyo, one of the densest cities on earth.
Staging Rehearsals
Staging rehearsals will constitute the bulk of our artistic work, and will run for six hours each day in two 3 hour blocks. This schedule mimics a professional staging rehearsal in accordance with AGMA standards. The program will end with performances of our two operas, fully staged and performed with piano accompaniment.
New Ideas Feed Artistry
In your time outside of rehearsal, we are working with local cultural consultants to take you into several districts and historical landmarks around the city while teaching you about its rich history. While our final schedule won’t be confirmed until closer to our start date, activities we’re hoping to include are a day trip to a nearby Edo area castle town, tea ceremonies, several walking tours and some traditional Japanese Kabuki Theater. There will also be days we collectively visit a new district with no plan at all except discovery.
The list of artists throughout history whose entire output has changed after exposure to Japanese culture is long and rich. We hope you’ll feel equally inspired.
