Originally from Japan, Yukari Yano (now Yukari Murakami) received her Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan, Master's Degree in Accompanying and Doctoral Degree in Piano Performance: Accompanying/Chamber Music at the Florida State University.
Yukari’s repertoire includes works in many different genres spanning nearly five centuries. She is equally at home with solo piano, vocal, and instrumental literature. Her performance experience is extensive, ranging from solo piano recitals to concerto performances with orchestra, vocal art song recitals to opera productions, and instrumental duo sonatas to large chamber ensembles. She is also an accomplished harpsichordist, having earned Certificate of Harpsichord Performance at FSU. She has played as soloist, continuo player and in Baroque ensembles on numerous occasions.
As winner of the Florida State University Young Artist Competition and Doctoral Concerto Competition, Yukari performed with the University Philharmonia and the University Symphony Orchestra, respectively. She also won the Rotary Club of Tallahassee Chapman Piano Competition. Other awards include the Accompanying Prize in the Little Cameria Contest of the 12th Settsu Music Festival in Osaka, Japan, a Dissertation Research Grant at the FSU.
Dr. Yano served as assistant professor of piano at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, and an Adjunct Instructor of Piano and Accompanist/Coach at the Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida.
After returning to Japan, Yukari has given solo recitals and held teaching positions at several universities until she opened her private piano studio in Hyogo in 2018. Now with more than fifty students, she enjoys working with all ages and levels of advancement, young children to adults.
Yukari is an active member of American College Musicians/ the National Guild of Piano Teachers Division; Japan National Chapter.
